The iconic Collingrove Homestead will provide the perfect back drop next month for the Emma Knights Production Anne of Green Gables: The Musical.

>> Vanessa Redmond – Choreographer, Benjamin Maio Mackay – Director and Shari Harkness-Mills – Props Master
A musical version of the classic tale of an orphan girl, Anne, who rises from destitution to happiness in the farm country entirely by virtue of her pluck and personality.
Anne’s adventures at Green Gables, the farm owned by her new caretakers, are both comical and heartwarming.
As part of the Emma Knights Production, the Angaston homestead will be transformed into Green Gables in Avonlea and you’re welcomed to join Anne with her red hair in two iconic braids as she shakes up the town.
The inaugural performance will be on December 14 at 6 p.m. with shows to follow on December 15 and 16 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Emma Knights of Emma Knights Productions is excited to deliver the production at Collingrove, her first in the Barossa.
“I have wanted to come to the Barossa for a while so I am excited to be bringing such a loved classic,” said Emma,
“I do love the community feel when you travel regionally so I hope that this will be the start of further regional travelling – I have a lot of plans.”
Already forging strong links with Barossa businesses, Emma has also secured some local talent for the production.
This includes Issy Darwent as Anne, Deborah Caddy as Marilla and Adrian Barnes as Matthew.
There is also David and Margaret Smith, who are members of the cast and lived in the Barossa for 25 years working at Kapunda High and Tanunda Lutheran Home.
>> The Avonlea school children with Miss Stacy
>> Issy Darwent as Anne Shirley with Annabelle Fleming as Diana Barry
>> Marcia and Andrew Frost, managers of Collingrove Homestead.
Emma said the upcoming musical is definitely a version of Anne of Green Gables that ties in with the original story.
“This musical has all the charm of the book and the Megan Hallows movies,” said Emma.
“The songs are catchy and fun. The costumes will be fabulous and if you have a puffed sleeve dress then please do wear it!

“Performing in the outdoors just creates a different element to theatre. The audience is much more a part of Avonlea than they would be sitting in a theatre.” – Emma Knights

“Performing in the outdoors just creates a different element to theatre. The audience is much more a part of Avonlea than they would be sitting in a theatre.
“There is a 10 piece orchestra that you can see as well.
“Audiences can expect to feel nostalgic, happy and have a truly lovely experience. There is also room to move so if your little ones get restless you can take them to the back and they can run around and you can still enjoy the show.”
With her fiery personality and wild imagination, Anne develops some much-loved relationships with the other characters in Avonlea; the on and off love story between Gilbert and Anne ‘carrots’, the friendship that blossoms with shy and loyal Diana Barry, the softening heart and warmth Anne brings to Marilla and the heart-warming joy shared between Matthew and Anne, as he loves her like a daughter from the moment he meets her.
Come along and share in the joy of the little town Avonlea, showing over three days with two morning performances, make sure you get your tickets to this wonderful family musical.
