MARRIED AT DIMCHURCH VINEYARDS, EBENEZER

Whilst Peri was living in London she took a trip to Hopfgarten, a ski town in the Austrian Alps.

Little did she realise she was about to meet the love of her life, a snowboard instructor called Oscar from New Zealand.

Their engagement later took place after a 4.30 a.m. alarm for a 6 a.m. minus 8 degree start to climb Roys Peak just outside Wanaka in New Zealand.

Peri said, “The hike took 3 hours in which about 2.5 of those consisted of her complaining to Oscar. How far? I’m cold, my legs hurt. But at the end it was worth it because during the beautiful sunrise over Lake Wanaka I turned to find Oscar on bended knee”.

The couple went on to hold their wedding ceremony and reception for 60 guests at Dimchurch Vineyards, Ebenezer on August 18.

They were married by Victoria Blenchynden and their attendants were Peri’s sisters, Rhian Harris and Jadine Kemp and niece, Peggy Kemp, flower girl and Oscar’s brother, Timothy Schaeffers.

Being a winter wedding, Peri and Oscar said, “They wanted it to feel warm and cosy so they created a lounge type reception with arm chairs, cushions, throws and hundreds of candles with a touch of elegance by adding in velvets, marble, gold and crystal.

Fleur Social spent many hours creating an indoor canopy from the beam of the venue, using camilia from Peri’s grandmother’s garden as a feature on one of the walls and bunches of pink gypsophlia as the back drop for the ceremony.

The wedding cake made by Home Baked Crumbs was made with three different variety of cakes.

After the wedding Oscar needed to head back to work in the ski fields of New Zealand so a  honeymoon has been postponed. “However, life feels like a honeymoon currently road tripping through New Zealand en route to Europe with the winter in Norway,” said Peri.

Peri is the daughter of Tracey and Phillip Mold of Gawler and Oscar is the son of Lin and Joof Schaeffers of Rotorua, New Zealand.
