A standout feature of the program is its strong connection to local employers, giving participants the opportunity to experience genuine workplaces and explore career options firsthand.

For example, Travis, a participant with skills in box making, wanted to try cabinet making and has been supported through Skills Plus with a tailored pathway. Barossa Enterprises partnered with local business Juncken Builders and Joinery to provide Travis with work experience.  This has enabled him to gain hands-on experience in a real work environment, developing confidence and a practical understanding of the role.

“This is what success looks like – real opportunities, real workplaces, and real progress toward true independence,” Garry said.

With workplace assessments built from nationally recognised VET competencies and support from more than 300 local business and community partners, Skills Plus is helping participants build the skills and confidence needed to move into real jobs of their choosing.

Guided by a “no wrong door” philosophy, Barossa Enterprises ensures that every individual can access the pathway that suits them best at the time – whether that’s open employment, employment, supported employment, work experience or alternate career options such as running a small business.

As the program continues to develop Barossa Enterprises is inviting participants, families and local employers to explore partnerships and pathways with them.
