Real food from the farms and homes of the Barossa

>> Julie Combe with Annie Hill of Barossa Hill Butchers

Tell us about your business...

John and Annie Hill are well known in the local food community with their local butchers’ shops Thornby Fine Meats in Tanunda and Barossa Hill Butchers in Angaston.

Barossa Hill Butchers makes sourcing quality meat from local farmers and abattoirs a priority utilising the whole carcass and providing an important service to local primary producers to help them get their products to consumers.

What products do you sell at the market?

The Barossa Hill Butchers stall sells a wide range of meat that they have value-added to through the butchering process. This includes different cuts of meat, plus sausages, smallgoods, black or white pudding, and even a Christmas range of ham, duck and turkey.

They also use an old smokehouse to smoke their meat and also for smoking fish. Ready-made meals such as casseroles and soups are also available from their stall with their Thornby’s ‘Heat and Eat’ dishes.

Who will customers meet at your stall ?

Julie and Annie can be found at the Barossa Hill Butchers stall at the market.
