What do you do when you have a winery in the family and you’re getting married? Suffice to say the ceremony location and wedding venue were quickly organised in what proved a heartfelt celebration.

The winery was a wonderful choice for Abi Mader, the daughter of Mark and Amanda Mader for her wedding to Bayley Dean, the son of Barry and Tracey Dean of Penrice.

“We are a grape growing and wine making family, so it was really special to have my wedding on the property I grew up on, we had wine barrels set up on the lawn, my mum and I danced on top of them under the fairy lights, in the exact same spot I used to play as a kid, it was really magical,” Abi said of one of her favourite moments of the day.

Another family-centred element was the fact the bride could get ready at her Aunty and Uncle’s Moculta Airbnb, 1858 Barossa Accommodation.

The bride and her attendants, Opal Mader, Zoe Bentley and Sara Ross all wore white, Abi’s dress was a piece from the 2017 Awelye collection from AJE which was, “a collaboration giving new life to the artwork of iconic indigenous artist Minnie Pwerle in a celebration of indigenous Australian art.”

With the wedding held ‘at home’ the couple had a large celebration with 160 guests, who were treated to the option of ‘glamping’ on the picturesque property.

“This was fun because as we weren’t at a venue which closed at 11.00pm/midnight like most weddings, we were able to spend all night dancing and we wanted our friends to have the ability to walk to their tents instead of having to organise a ride home. We were lucky to have such amazing weather which made this possible.”

Abi and Bayley spent their honeymoon on a world tour, which started with a safari and travel in South Africa, incorporated Europe, Greece and Sri Lanka.
