When the bride is a wedding specialist you would expect that industry expertise to come in handy for her own special day – and this was certainly the case for Brianna Kaye when she married Luke (‘Lefty’) Hamann at Peter Lehmann Wines in October.
While the overall style for the wedding was black tie, described as “elegant, simple but fun,” there were nuanced differences between the ceremony and the reception.
“Working in the wedding industry for 10 plus years as a florist, I have seen a lot of trends come and go. We wanted something timeless but beautiful,” Brianna said.
“We could not make our minds up over whites and greens or colourful flowers, so why not have both? The ceremony was whites and greens with a hint of baby blue while the reception was colourful.
“…My fellow florists Sara and Anna from Fleur Social and my ex-colleague Rosie Goodwin were kind enough to be my Leaf and Lotus freelancers for the day.
“As I had made all the other bouquets and arrangements, I asked Sara to create a fun, colourful bouquet for the reception as a surprise. My dress (Ingrid Olić from The Bride Lab) was too pretty to change for the reception, so why not have a reception bouquet, shoe and earring change?”
Interestingly, one of the factors in choosing Peter Lehmann Wines for the ceremony and reception was the flexibility of the venue.
“Peter Lehmann’s was an easy choice for us as a couple for so many reasons but from a suppliers’ aspect too,” Brianna said.
“We both wanted to be involved as much as possible up until the last point which this venue allowed us to do.
“This really was the supplier wedding. The bridesmaids are all in the wedding industry too. My sister owns VENYU, to say our wedding run sheet and organisation on the day was perfect is an understatement!”
Dana, Brianna’s best friend, owns Cooper Road Kitchen. They got all their favourite cakes and Brianna hand placed every single flower on.
Ultimately, despite the industry knowledge and planning, these high school sweethearts were like any other couple in wanting their wedding day to reflect their lives – and this included their fur babies.
They nominate their favourite moment as, “Creating a day for us based around what we love as a couple. It was special to be so close to home to pop in to see Jumpers, Jasper (cats) and Humphrey (dog). We could not leave our boys out of our special day,” Brianna said.
