Over the past 12 months, BE participants have become valued members of the Wintulichs team. Amanda says the benefits are mutual.

“Every team member brings something unique — whether it’s their sense of humour or a skill others don’t have. One of our team members is incredibly precise with her work, making sure every product looks perfect before it leaves our doors. That attention-to-detail is an asset to the whole business.”

That team member is Esther, who takes pride in her precision.

“I like putting stickers on products carefully and knowing my accuracy is appreciated. It gives me a sense of accomplishment,” says Esther.

Tyrone brings energy and adaptability to the floor.

“I like the busyness and fast pace here, and having a number of different jobs to do. It keeps things interesting,” says Tyrone. “The people are great, and I’ve been able to work towards getting my licence and keeping my car reliable so I can get here independently.”

For Charlie, the change has been personal as well as professional.

“Management understands me and supports me. I can be myself while still fitting into the team, and that’s a great feeling,” he says.

Rebecca Sims, Employment Services Coordinator from BE says seeing these transformations is the program’s greatest reward.

“I met one of the young fellows a few months after he started, and his whole presence had changed — shoulders back, walking with confidence. That’s the power of purpose and being part of a team that values you.”

Rebecca says it works because the relationship is built on trust and open communication.

“If something needs to change, we talk about what can be put in place to help. It’s never about giving up — it’s about finding solutions so people can thrive.”
