When flexibility, freedom and peace of mind matters...

Deciding to move into an independent living unit doesn’t mean sacrificing your independence or lifestyle.  Often, it means opening your life up to flexibility, freedom and peace of mind for you and your family.

What style of home can you expect to find in a retirement living unit?

With over 190 units in our portfolio, Barossa Village offers the choice of brand new, architect designed, custom built homes, through to fully refurbished older units, depending on location, size and budget.

Our new homes feature spacious layouts with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, single and double garages, fully ducted cooling and heating. Kitchens are built with soft close drawers and doors, while laundries are self-contained. Storage is generous. Outdoor entertaining spaces are undercover, including space for your BBQ.

When refurbishing our older units, Barossa Village doesn’t skimp on style. Depending on the unit, kitchens and bathrooms are usually replaced with a custom design or upgraded finishes, built-in robes are installed and the whole unit is finished with a fresh coat of paint, new floor coverings and window furnishings.

We offer one, two and three bedroom units, with some of the one bedroom units having a sunroom/office. Generally units have one bathroom, and in our larger units, an additional powder room (toilet and hand basin).

If you have a caravan, we have a secure space for storage at no extra charge.

What does “Licence to Occupy” mean?

The unit itself and the land on which it is built, belongs to Barossa Village. A “licence to occupy” grants a resident, or residents, the right to occupy a property for the duration for their life through a signed agreement with Barossa Village.

What fees are involved?

Apart from paying a premium (the price of the unit) the only fee you’ll need to pay is a fortnightly maintenance and services fee, which covers council and water rates, building insurance, gardening and maintenance on the unit.

How do people remain connected to the community?

Barossa Village has a unique model, where we build units in small and large clusters within the neighbourhoods of Tanunda, Angaston and Nuriootpa. This way, people don’t feel isolated from their community and can continue to be connected.

Being part of the Barossa Village community means accessing our Lifestyle Activities Program which operates from the Joy Rice Centre in Nuriootpa and includes social activities, day trips and lunches. We also run fortnightly movie nights and Happy Hours which are free, and can arrange transport to get you to and from these events. We also have a weekly shopping bus, which residents find handy.

Residents who live independently are also very active within our volunteering program, joining our resident’s association committee, social club and Ladies’ Auxiliary. It’s really up to you, how much or how little you want to be involved.

We have a dedicated Integrated Care Development Coordinator who can help you with navigating My Aged Care and a broad range of assistance that can include IT support, liaising with service providers, coordinating personal alarms and organising allied health services.

What if my needs change, where can I get help?

Being a fully integrated care provider means that Barossa Village can coordinate and deliver in- home care, from entry level Community Home Support Program to Home Care Packages, levels one to four. We have a team of Care Coordinators based in the Barossa who will work in partnership with you to deliver the outcomes you need to live independently in your own home.

How can Barossa Village assist you?

Our Community Care Team looks forward to being able to assist people wanting to access information and services that they may be eligible for, through Barossa Village.
