After a relationship spanning 14 years, it was largely a local friend and family affair when Beck Tucker and Martin Ritzmann were married just before Christmas.

Martin’s mother, Marion Ritzmann travelled from Germany and his brother and family (partner and three children) travelled from Norway.

The daughter of Lynda and Mick Tucker of Gawler, Beck chose to have her hair styled by her cousin Lauryn Klose of MJ Hair, while the rings were made locally by Sarah Rothe.

Local dressmaker Casey from Bruce the Label created the bride’s linen dress, while the top was made by a family friend, fashioned using lace from Beck’s Nanna’s debutante dress.

The bespoke wedding theme continued with the groom’s attire, with a detailed embroidered shirt, also by Casey, and the overall styling centred on, local and seasonal.

“We utilised years’ worth of op shop treasure collecting, and easily turned to local professionals for everything,” Beck said.

About 60 guests attended the ceremony at a local park, followed by a reception held at their Tanunda home, with the photographer Martin Neumann, a friend from Germany and his partner also attending.

The catering and wedding cake by Alana Brabin and Sarah Turner of Big Bad Wolf Catering was exceptional! Guests were impressed with the attention to detail and above all delicious food. The chocolate wedding cake with chocolate icing was from a family recipe from Sarah. It was decorated with pressed and dried local flowers and natives.

The couple met while working at a festival in Victoria back in 2009, and the pair eventually launched a breadmaking business (Mehl Sourdough) – so it was fitting when Martin proposed at breakfast before making their way to their Barossa Market stall on Beck’s birthday in February, 2018.

Looking back at the wedding day, the couple said it wouldn’t be possible to single out a favourite moment, as the day was “beyond our wildest dreams.”

“We had the most wonderful team of people around us that helped the day run smoothly and we would particularly like to thank our friends Lizzy and Annie (Zaza Ninski) for coordinating a run sheet (very important!) and for being the MCs.

“We would like to thank Martin’s family and friends for visiting from Europe and especially thank our parents for loving and supporting us to make the day exactly as we wished,” Beck said.

While Beck and Martin are yet to head off on honeymoon, it is on the agenda for this season.

“We will head to the Flinders Ranges in Autumn hopefully to enjoy a voucher that our friends gifted us for Rawnsley Park (Station),” Beck said.
